![]() What's up with the asinine exclusivity deals, anyway? Some people never even heard of this game before it hit Steam. I'm anti-Epic, and I don't use EGS, so just don't ask how I did that ʷᶦⁿᵏ ʷᶦⁿᵏ ⁿᵘᵈᵍᵉ ⁿᵘᵈᵍᵉ. ![]() ![]() In case some smart-ass points out to my playtime or achievements, I already played through this game. The fact that this game has a 480 FPS max cap in the settings surprises me the most, since it can't even maintain 144 on all low settings with my setup. Considering the perfectly reasonable (!) and efficient 45% usage for both my GPU and CPU, it's safe to say that the game can't utilize resources properly. I'm actually surprised of the abysmal performance. Long story short, this game is severely unoptimized for what it is. The current graphical options in the game are not sufficient whatsoever. I think I know what the problem is, but there is no option to disable effects in the game so I had to dig the. I was getting between a wildly varying 50 FPS and 144 FPS with my setup and I already had "Overall Quality" (which is Post Processing in reality) at Low just to get rid of the disgusting vignette effect. Specs for reference:MSI RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X 8 GB ![]() Camera can cause issues during intense sections, like boss fights You can reduce the chances by making the "skate" input work as a toggle The platforming can be tricky to handle and can cause wrist pain if you strain yourself for too long. Performance issues and random frame drops are unexpected considering the seemingly insignificant stylized graphical fidelity Abysmal performance regardless of your specs. One achievement requires you to speedrun the game in under 3 hours, and another requires you to finish it on Hardcore difficulty Low replayability unless you want all achievements and endings. The controls can be frustrating to deal with before you are used to them +/- There's no "return to last checkpoint" or fast travel option to the smaller checkpoints, but you can fast travel between the maps +/- Exploration is rewarded by new suits, lore and side quests +/- You can only use one power-up at a time from a suit Higher difficulties give you almost no room for error, with Hardcore difficulty essentially requiring to do perfect runs when doing timed events +/- Difficulty options only affect the leeway you get in terms of extra time in boss fights. +/- Unlocking new suits to get different boosts require you to piece together several logs of other Voidrunners that were around before us +/- Combat mechanics are basic, but they do the job You have access to a grappling hook move, a dash and a mechanic called Timeslip (which increases your grappling hook range and slows time while active) + Movement tech is fairly simple and effective. + The scale of buildings and floating debris really remind you how insignificantly small you are, in a good way + Boss fights feel impactful and satisfying + World-building is on point, with multiple logs and NPCs you can interact with Not only that, but they are also well-made + The music and sound effects compliment the atmosphere and the visuals.
